Life of Our Holy Patron
Saint Frutos was born in 642 to a noble family from Segovia

Jesus looked at him with love and said — [...] go, sell all you have and give it to the poor [...] then come and follow me. (Mk 10:21)

Saint Frutos and his siblings, Valentín and Engracia, decided to follow God's call and gave all their money to the poor

Leaving Segovia....

Saint Frutos and his siblings were welcomed into the eremitic community of Duratón

They devoted their time to prayer

The contemplation of creation

And working in the garden

In the year 711 the Muslims invaded the peninsula

Saint Frutos bravely risked his life to defend the Faith and his brothers

Dying shortly after (c. 715) in the company of his siblings

Shortly after, Muslim soldiers stormed the monastery of Caballar, beheading Valentín and Engracia

After the reconquest, the bishop inaugurated a Benedictine priory in 1200

In 1836 the monks were expelled....

Time of abandonment and collapse of the priory

Today, the prayerful tradition of this place is being recovered
